Virginia Woman Flies for Knee Stem Cells with Dr. Lox
A female patient presented with knee osteoarthritis consulted with Dennis M. Lox, MD, for knee stem cell treatment. It was felt she was an excellent candidate, and she elected to proceed. The process for her was described as simple without pain. She walked out of Dr. Lox’s office the same way she walked in. There were no pain medications needed. No physical therapy ordered, and she got on a plane 2 days later and returned to Virginia. (some patients elect to fly the following day)
Her recovery has been standard. Reduction in symptoms with the mindful precautions given to her by Dr. Lox that are meant to avoid excessive exertion when a patient wants to do too much too soon. These precautions will vary from patient to patient, and especially among athletes will be specific to injury and sport. The general recovery in knee osteoarthritis is variable between patients. Those with significant pain from inflammation may notice a relatively fast improvement in pain. This is a result of the immunomodulatory effect of the stem cells to exert an anti-inflammatory effect. A regenerative repair of cartilage may not be seen in all patients. This may take months to get a complete effect.
