Sports Applications of Regenerative Medicine, PRP, and Stem Cells
Today’s professional athletes are constantly under intense pressure to perform at peak level. They are always looking for an edge to heal faster, but does regenerative medicine therapies such as Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Stem Cell treatments give athletes an unfair athletic performance?
The simple answer is NO! The goal of injury recovery is 100 percent. One cannot heal 120 percent with PRP or stem cells. The body can only get back to normal after injury. Applications of regenerative medicine, such as PRP and Stem Cell Therapy, is just one way of assisting the body to heal and recovery. It cannot make supernormal tissue. Athletes will embrace regenerative medicine not for performance enhancement, but as an aid to help the body heal injuries.
