What Is the Difference Between Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Doctors?

Picture of Different Cells

This is not one-size-fits-all Medicine. Regenerative Medicine by an experienced expert in the field understands this, and is capable of treating a 29 year old or a 99 year old. However, a lot of newly proclaimed stem cell doctors are not who say they are: they are not experienced. Some are not even medical doctors!

Do your research on stem cell doctors.

Experience comes with treating, and understanding many different types of patients. I have had the great pleasure of treating many teenage athletes, and helping them reach their goals of return to sport, and obtain college scholarships.

Equally rewarding is the number of 80 and 90 year old patients Dr. Lox has helped with maintaining their quality of life, and got to know them as interesting and unique human beings, with a vast array of incredible knowledge and stories. Just like this 99 year old woman.

Dr. Lox has lectured Nationally and Internationally, with some of the most esteemed Regenerative Medicine, Tissue Engineering and Stem Cell Professors in the world. However, some brilliant University Professors work in laboratories, and understand the science, but do not treat patients.

Experience treating patients, and understanding the science is what makes a great Regenerative Medicine expert in the real world. That is who you want treating your family members or friends. This applies to cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, and practically all aspects of medicine. There is the science of medicine, and the art of medicine.

Stem Cells and Aging

Statements made that your cells are too old are naive statements mostly from salespeople and some stem cell doctors retorting something someone else is pitching. Sad, but true.

The new birth tissues, or Perinatal tissues as it it formerly called, encompasses amniotic, placental, umbilical, cord blood, and Wharton’s jelly.

Dr. Lox has lectured at two International Perinatal Stem Cell Society Meetings, and Is well versed in this field. There is great promise for stem cell derived products from these tissues.

However, FDA regulations stipulate to be a stem cell product from another human being (allogenic), it must be approved as a drug therapy.

Only a few are.

There is a cord blood stem cell drug approved for leukemia. Most all the other products are “acellular” tissue grafts, considered medical devices in the United States, not FDA approved drug therapy.

“Acellular” means no cells. Not to worry, your stem cells though not new, are perfectly capable of working. Especially well if you have longevity genes.

Your skin and gastrointestinal tract turns over regularly. To do so Stem Cells create new tissue. The same is true of stem cells residing in bone marrow looking for new blood cells to make, after reading the environment that some blood cells need to be replaced.

Near fat, food is delivered by the terminal branches of blood vessels. If we keep overeating, the environmental signals are read by the local stem cells to create new fat cells.

Hence the 99 year old, was creating to many new fat cells in response to her overeating the wrong food. Her skin looked good for her age, and she had plenty of good blood. Her mind was sharp. She asked me to ask her anything, which I did. I found out where she was during Pearl Harbor, and what the prohibition and the great depression were like. Her mind and stem cells were working fine.

Cell Limits and Cell Aging: The Fountain of Youth

Quite simply, if your stem cells are not working you die. It is called cellular senescence. Programmed cell limits of aging. The noble prize went to the finding that are DNA strands with longer telomeres have longer lifespans.

The fountain of youth may be technically altered, or you are born with great potential. The fountain of youth is partially explained by this noble prize winning research. However, this is a more complicated subject for a short story. I have been studying this for a decade with research data on some of my older patients.

This explains longevity genes, as well as epigenetic alterations based upon environmental factors that shorten the length or lifespan. Growing newborn or adult stem cells in culture expansion in the laboratory to greater numbers of stem cells for commercial purposes as drugs or in offshore clinics stating more is better, actually age the stem cells by roughly 30 years.

An epigenetic abnormal environmental factor creating more stem cells by speeding up cell division in an altered laboratory environment. Not a normal process of slow morphological aging. It is rode hard, put up wet stem cells in a lab. Similar to the methamphetamine billboards of accelerated aging. Frightening pictures of young people before and after taking this drug. Staying up for days on end is another old saying, burning the candles at both ends.

Some of the aging Rock Stars and Celebrities known for their fast life styles epitomize this accelerated aging effect. Many of them have international lifestyles with homes in the Los Angeles, California or Beverly Hills area, as well as London, and England.

Remember the British Rock invasion? Classic music, but the 60’s and 70’s were hard living birth of the Rock Star persona. Not the health movement. Unfortunately, company representatives, salespeople, and uniformed persons representing birth tissue products are providing misinformation.

Tissue grafts not subjected to accelerated aging do not have this, but have no viable stem cells, which is why they are labeled Acellular by the FDA guidelines, because there are no stem cells. False representation of stem cells or mislabeling is taken seriously and lawsuits, fines and direct action are being taken by the FDA, state boards of medicine, and even the New York Attorney General.
