Patient Opts For Stem Cell Therapy Over Cane
Quite often, pride overcomes our ability to think rationally when it comes to our health. At other times, it’s this pride and determination that lead us to seek out medical solutions. This was the case with a recent patient of Dr. Lox. Her pride got to her. She came in for a consultation with Dennis M. Lox, MD, and adamantly stated she should be able to walk without a cane and that she didn’t want a total knee replacement.
Dr. Lox agreed to try a regenerative medicine therapy on her knee – Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Stem Cell Therapy. Many patients are choosing PRP and stem cell therapy as viable options to total knee replacement. Especially the younger age group with arthritis.
We are at a turning point in medicine. We have have come some so far, yet health care reimbursements are at low, the future for adding cutting edge technology appears weak, funding for research is low….it is very difficult. It appears patients will have to do their own preventative care.
This patient chose stem cell therapy for her knee and no longer uses a cane. By her own omission she is a success story.
