Osteonecrosis Treatment With Stem Cell Therapy
Osteonecrosis refers to bone death within the skeleton.
Avascular Necrosis (AVN) refers to blood supply (a vasculature) this results in loss blood supply to the region of affected bone.
This results in a bone’s cellular death followed by the possibility of joint collapse. Secondary arthritis may also rapidly occur in cases.
The most common joints where osteonecrosis are found are: the hip, knee, and shoulder. Osteonecrosis or avascular necrosis (AVN) may be bilateral affecting both joints.
This obviously complicates osteonecrosis treatment.
Recently, with advancements regenerative medicine osteonecrosis or AVN with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) or Stem Cell Therapy has taken a forefront as many patients do not desire a total joint replacement – let alone the prospect of double joint replacement.
Dennis M. Lox, MD, has extensive experience in treating osteonecrosis (AVN). Consultation may be made with Dr. Lox over the phone to review MRI or x-rays, making it easy for patients across the country to have access to sound osteonecrosis treatment.
