Lateral Epicondylitis or Tennis Elbow
Lateral epicondylitis or as it’s commonly referred to as tennis elbow, is not inflammation around the outer aspect of the elbow, as commonly thought. This is why anti-inflammatory medications and cortisone injections typically don’t work.
What is Lateral Epicondylitis?
It is actually a chronic condition that develops typically from repetitive stress on the outer aspect of the elbow where the extensor tendons of the wrist insert. Abnormal collagen deposition occurs over time and this weakens the area. Some strengthening exercises may be of benefit, but Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Therapy techniques have been used quite successfully to help athletes, and those affiliated with chronic tennis elbow or lateral epicondylitis.
